You may have noticed that it’s a little quieter than usual here at The Bosch World HQ. After a long hiatus trekking through the Andes mountains and then sailing across the Pacific Ocean, I’ve returned back to NYC to find that without my expert guidance, The Bosch needed to go on hiatus. Currently, the band is frozen in carbonite. If it survives, it should be very well preserved.

In the meantime, I’ll be keeping you posted on the other assorted musical projects that The Boscheteers are creating and playing in.

Oh, and here’s a nice review of Hurry Up from Bill Holmes at Pop Culture Press/Under the Radar

Pigeonhole Bosch? Not when at any time you can scrape th DNA of Greg Cartwright and Link Wray guitar tones, Iggu’s sneer, Adam Ant’s marching beat, and the lo-fi punch (complete with dissonant horn support) of garage legends the Penetrators… Great stuff.

This NYC-based rock band has enjoyed strong national airplay on college radio, which you can tell from their music. The Bosch sounds like a mix between early Killers and The Clash with its “1776” and “Paperback.” This is a band that has the potential for success, but isn’t really at the stage where you can hear their uniqueness, even if it’s bubbling underneath the high-tempo songs. “Hurry Up” is an uplifting album, especially something to play at a wild college party or when you want to wake up your body and mind.

The world don’t move to the beat of just one drum. The Cheap Pop interviewed Andrew: “Actor Conrad Bain was a delight as Mr. Drummond, the wealthy white man who adopted two African American children on the acclaimed 1970s sitcom Diff’rent Strokes. On an unrelated note, the Brooklyn-based group quartet The Bosch recently released a new EP entitled Hurry Up. Where is the connection between Bain and The Bosch? How about thinking about the man and the band all bring a giant smile to my face, and make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside?”

Radio Crystal Blue sat down with all four Bosch-eteers following soundcheck at Luna Lounge. You can find the interview here at Radio Crystal Blue along with a live recording of “Later Tonight” from the Luna Lounge show.

Some people have written nice things about us on the web in the last couple of weeks.

Concert Livewire: Livewire’s exclusive interview with The Bosch, “One band of note that has recently emerged from this ever-bourgeoning scene is The Bosch, a quartet that successfully marries the immediate, one-two punch of punk bands like The Ramones and The Dead Boys with the detached cool of Lou Reed, while also adding in enough Nuggets-era stained garage rock and West Coast surf music to make both Lenny Kaye and Dick Dale beam with pride.”

The Cheap Pop Enjoyable EP by The Bosch: “The Bosch’s second release, an EP entitled ‘Hurry Up,’ is immediately appealing.”

Time Out NY: The Bosch: “The Bosch’s recent EP, Hurry Up, is a fun collection of boppin’ rock & roll tunes, juiced with plenty of ’50s-style twang.”

Pop Tarts Suck Toasted: This Week’s Live Picks: “Wow, two of the most criminally ignored bands of 2007 together in one place! Both The Bosch and El Jezel released solid albums last year, but most seemed to go almost unnoticed while much shittier bands were getting lauded on every blog from here to Siberia.”
